On this day 15 years ago, my wife and my kids joined me on an overnight flight
from Cairo to JFK. We arrived around 5:45 AM, and had to wait till 6:00 AM for
immigration officers to start their day. For us it was a new dawn! We were taken
to a separate room for fingerprinting and get our I-551, known as green card
visa. Marina was 4, and Michel was 2.

15 years later: Marina is wandering the vast spectrum of options to build the
path to her future. During the last few years she had helped people in need on
three continents speaking different languages. Michel has been applying and
interviewing with universities that have names associated with human advances.
Every passing week is getting him closer to realizing his dream to becoming a
scientist.

The country we left seems to be on another planet. Today they can’t even receive
an email. The same country where I used the Internet in 1995 to plan for my
immigration. We pray for the people there who are still dreaming big while
sailing through a period of uncertainty.

I woke up at 7:20 yesterday and got to school just a little bit late, i checked with my teachers regarding my college recomendations. we watch a movie in two of my classes and played computer games in the third. i came home early and ate lunch. i prayed and read my Bible for a little while then played ping-pong with a guy that was visiting. i ate again then went to Bible study and servants meeting at church. after that i went to Glory Days with my friends then went home, tried working on my sunday school lesson, and slept.

for what, why, what did i gain, anything? if i did the above then  i would have gained just as much as you did reading it. nothing. but that’s not what i did, that’s what my body did.

You see how dry it was to read my schedule? a lot of days are just as dry, if not more dry. and if living that schedule was just as dry as reading it then what’s the point of this life? but as always there more than what meets the eye.

there’s the attitude, thoughts, and desires right?

I woke up at 7:20 yesterday and got to school late but while i was walking i thought about the checklist i had made for getting college apps ready, then i checked with my teachers regarding my college recomendations and thought that they were on time. we watch a movie in two of my classes and i thought one of them was pretty exciting. We played computer games in the third class and i thought i was smart for getting some work done. i came home early and thought about the ice on the ground while walking then ate lunch and thought it was pretty cool that i made it home right when my parents were about to eat. i prayed and read my Bible for a while and didn’t feel very into it. then played ping-pong with a guy that was visiting and desired to beat him but he was really good. i ate again then went to Bible study and servants meeting at church and i enjoyed the topics. after that i went to Glory Days with my friends and felt like i was all grown up and able to go out when i wanted. then i went home, tried working on my sunday school lesson while feeling a little guilty for leaving it to the last minute, and finally slept while working on the lesson.

Was that better? a little less dry? absolutely not. and again if life was that boring then there’s no point to it. but again that’s not what i did, that’s what my body and counsiousness did. there’s more to life then that, there’s more to life then what meets the eye.

there is more to life right? but reading over those two descriptions of my day maybe you can’t think of anything right now… watch this video:

Now you see it. now that it was brought to your attention. i can go my whole life and never see what’s really going on behind the scenes.

New Year. New Life. Let’s take the blindfold off and wake up to the state of our spiritual life, the attacks on us, and the great comfort and love awaiting us.
